No, I'm not talking about the MJ song (although its one of my favorites).

In 1 Samuel 12:21And do not turn aside after empty things that cannot profit or deliver, for they are empty.

Why is it that its human nature for us to pursue things over and over again when they have never delivered over the long term? As logical as we'd like to think we we are, the reality is that we are innately emotionally driven creatures. It's why advertising works. Its why we buy the products with the flashier packaging or the more attractive endorsed athlete.

What would it look like to live a life making investments into areas of our lives that do profit and do deliver?

How would that change the quality of our marriage, friendships, job performance and even physique?

What areas of your life are you pursuing things that don't profit or deliver?

What is an area that, if invested into, would pay huge dividends?

What are you going to do about it?
